Photographer George Digalakis Presents a Profound Series Depicting the Existence of a Tree

I find myself drawn to an idealized version of nature, a reflection of my melancholic and introverted disposition. This nature is devoid of distractions, marked by serenity and beauty, born from my profound affection for silence and solitude. While my photography often features ordinary subjects, it tends to focus on elements that elude our attention in the hustle of daily life. My hope is that my photographs, by capturing people’s gaze, encourage them to truly observe the inconspicuous and uncover its inherent beauty. When individuals peruse my images, I aspire to evoke the sensation of reading a poem. If I can successfully convey my emotions of vastness, tranquility, and awe for life and nature, then I have effectively shared my inner world with another soul.

For me, trees have consistently held a captivating allure as photographic subjects. I am particularly fond of encountering them in forests and woodlands, especially when enshrouded in mist. Yet, my fascination deepens further when I encounter solitary trees. These trees, with their primordial existence and enduring nature, exude an aura of permanence. Despite being firmly rooted in the earth, they appear to reach out and touch the sky.

My perpetual quest involves seeking out uncomplicated, uncluttered compositions that allow me to craft minimalist photographs. These images are characterized by the ability to evoke sentiments of order, stillness, and a tranquil, albeit at times melancholic and solitary ambiance. The core objective of my art has never been to faithfully depict reality but rather to distill its intricacies and provide clarity. To achieve this, I harness the potential of negative space, leaving the viewer no option but to immerse themselves in the central theme, encompassing all the unused space. This often culminates in a meditative experience.
