In the northern reaches of Nepal, the Himalayas stand in all their breathtaking glory, a fact universally acknowledged. Trekking and mountaineering are integral to the country’s GDP and per capita income, with a substantial portion of rural residents relying on tourism for their livelihoods. This dependence on tourism is evident along the trails, from lodge proprietors to porters, all contributing to Nepal’s thriving trekking industry.
Yen Nguyen, originally from Vietnam and a resident of Nepal for nearly half a decade, has embarked on numerous iconic treks in the region. Beyond her passion for hiking, Yen has added a unique twist to her adventures—she has brought her two beloved dogs along on her Himalayan expeditions.
In her own words, Yen shares, “A deep bond has formed between my dogs and me. Regardless of where I go, I raise them like my own children, caring for them, and desiring their presence in my journeys. These images are from my previous hikes, where I aimed to capture the stunning vistas. However, this is not the end; I plan to venture out into the mountains with them again.”
